Global firm Colliers made a projection that Bacolod will be one of the preferred BPO hotspots in the country. The city was named as the third fastest-growing economy in the fields of IT and BPOs.  

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) declared Bacolod as a “center of excellence” for IT-business process management operations in 2020.

Major Health Information Management Hub 

Aside from the BPO and IT Industry, Bacolod has named a major health information management (HIM) hub outside Metro Manila by Colliers International Philippines in 2017. This is due to the abundance of medical healthcare graduates such as nurses and allied medical graduates every year. HIM companies such as GrabSupport, Medstar Philippines, Transkripsyo, etc. are currently present in Bacolod.

Bacolod has two major ports for vessel entry. The Banago Wharf and BREDCO Port feature different shipping lines such as 2Go Travel, Ocean Jet, Montenegro Lines, Supercat, Fast Cat, etc. Bacolod serves as a marine gateway to areas like Iloilo, Manila, Cagayan de Oro, etc. 

In major road construction, the Bacolod- Negros Occidental Economic Highway (BANOCEH) is soon to be completed in 2022. The 49.8-kilometer highway has four lanes, three bridges, and a two-way bike lane. This will connect Bacolod City to Victorias City. It further connects to the Bacolod- Silay Airport Access Road going to EB Magalona and Victorias City. 

Bacolod is also home to many sporting facilities and convention centers that attract many events organizers in the city. Big events like the 2007 ASEAN Football Championship and the 2005 South East Asian Games were held at the famous Panaad Stadium.
