Self-care goals…. How do they shape you as an individual?

Self-care is essential in maintaining one’s overall health and well-being. Self-care habits keep you sane, isn’t it right?

As you gear towards half of the year, it’s time to reinvent yourself and have a moment of self-check of your desired goals in life, may it be physical, financial goals, career goals, or life goals. Life can be a tad overwhelming, and sometimes, you might feel that the world requires a lot from you. Cheer up though, and don’t let the world’s pressures overwhelm you.

Setting goals – long-term or short-term – is helpful for you to maintain your mental, physical, and emotional health in check. Listing down your goals set toward the half of 2023 can be simple, attainable, realistic, and specific – as a way to help you reach them without overwhelming yourself.

As you set it right, here are some specific goals to help you towards mental, physical, and emotional health for the last 6 months of 2023!

Self-Care Goals to Fulfill Towards Half of 2023

Exercise and get in shape.

It’s not too late to develop a habit of exercising. To start with, try exercising at least thirty minutes daily. Exercise promotes healthy living and improves an individual’s overall well-being –from mental to physical. It reduces stress, promotes a healthy weight, and improves your overall mental health. Exercising can be a walk, running, jogging, stretching, or yoga. You can incorporate dancing, cycling, boxing, or swimming into your daily routine.

Reminder: you are what you eat!

This is the sign to start eating healthier this 2023. A healthy diet reduces the risk of chronic diseases, helps maintain a healthy weight, and boosts mental health. It is vital to incorporate a balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats. You should also keep track and monitor portion sizes of what you eat, and stay hydrated by drinking enough water.

Learn some new and creative activities.

Learn new hobbies or relinquish those old hobbies of yours! Get creative, learn new things, or start hobbies such as painting, writing or journaling, playing an instrument, or cooking! These activities promote relaxation, mental stimulation, and a sense of accomplishment. Creative activities help reduce stress, boost your self-confidence, and improve your self-esteem. Research on self-care hobbies that can improve mental health and those that keep you happy, make worthy of your time, and more encouraged.

Do some self-talk.

Another self-care goal worth pondering is doing some self-talk. Positive self-talk promotes positive thinking and reduces anxiety. It is essential to replace negative thoughts and statements with positive ones to improve your way of thinking and inculcating a positive mindset. Remind yourself of some positive affirmations, recognize your small wins in life, or simply pat yourself on the shoulder for getting through the day and surviving life’s daily challenges. Promise, it helps!

Practice mindfulness and self-awareness.

Mindfulness induces relaxation as it helps you appreciate the present moment. Living in the now is often disregarded when you start to overthink or be anxious about what’s badly bound to happen. Slowly reduce overthinking. Like what they say, overthinking puts you in that same bad situation twice. Be self-aware, recognize your emotions, (including sadness), but be hopeful for a brighter tomorrow as you wake up to unlimited chances that life has to offer!

It’s not too late for some 2023 goals, so go for it now!
