Working from home is the new normal work setup that is still implemented in some companies, even here in the Philippines. For sure, you would want a clean, organized, and maximized work-from-home setup on your desk or workstation at home; so you can finish your tasks productively and effectively. Focus is important, and your overall environment plays a vital role in your daily work routine, and that includes your work desk.

In a study according to Harvard Business Review, the environment of a certain physical workplace has a huge impact on one’s cognition, emotions, and behavior. In addition to that, an organized work-from-home setup not only contributes to the overall aesthetics of your home; but also motivates you to work hard, work smoothly, and work effectively despite just being at home.

To start off a completely organized work-from-home table, put labels as much as possible. Simple labels such as “To be signed” “To be revised” “In” and “Out” on important papers ;or just by labeling your pens and office supplies can do well in keeping things organized. With labels, you will avoid disorganizing your stuff, especially when they are important for your work.

On the other hand, since everything is going digital now, dividers and acrylic organizers should do the trick in starting to organize your desk. If you are more into paperless and saving trees, drawer dividers and organizers do the trick in storing flash drives, business cards, small sticky notes, pens, and other stuff that are necessarily needed for your work table.

Decorate, but do not overdo your workstation.

Adding a little ‘sass’ to your work desk does not hurt at all, as long as you do not overdo it. Working at home also means that you get to design and personalize your work desk in any way that you would want it to look. You can add a mini bulletin board for your notes, prop an inspo board against a wall to put your ideas in order, or whenever you are feeling crafty, you can make some origami artwork to add flair and life to your work desk.

So whenever you feel stressed, you can take a pause and lessen the work tension with a well-decorated, clean, work-from-home table.

Declutter, rearrange, make it simple, and keep it clean.

Sometimes, there is a need to get rid of everything off your work table and throw away old stuff on it that you would not be needing for work anymore. Remember that you will need an adequate amount of space to work, to place your laptop, keyboard, and mouse, and a clean workstation without all the unnecessary junk.

A clutter-free work desk is tantamount to a simple work-from-home setup as well, and this is where the ambiance of your workstation plays its vital role with your focus and concentration to gear you up for that 8 to 12-hour shift, may it be day or night.
